Creating an Assignment
Assignments in Salesforce are what allow you to enter time and expenses on a billable project. Any work you do on a client project will require an assignment. The assignment in Salesforce cross references your User, Role, and the Rates associated with the Project to automatically generate the proper bill rates. You do not need to keep track of your rates on different projects, Salesforce handles that for you.
For non-billable, internal projects, such as Business Development, HR or IT, you do not require an assignment to post time.
Creating an Assignment
- In the Project, hover over Assignments, choose “Assign Resource”
- Search the person’s name
- For Bill Rate, enter $1
- For Start Date, ensure you choose today’s date, do not leave it as the default date
- For End Date, use the Rate Card Set End Date
- Select Update Schedule
- Select Create Assignment
